my midnight bijou

her heart imbuing with the rise
of evening's sweet, sweet face
and oh, her ghostly, ghostly eyes
reflect its lively grace

of where she ever will remain
and where i long to be
i sense her tragedy and pain
as something within me

there painted beautifully, it dies
through balladry i speak
and soon so fluently in size
the water's shimmer seeks

for how her verging will unchain
a lively, lively dream
she settles comfortably in vain
as cloudiness can scheme

the things she's not apt to let pass
for she is far too bright
the skies aren't quite enough in mass
to ever confess plight

for centuries she's been around
within her mending soul
and though i sense this feeling's bound
toward her beauty's shoal

her breath is as the looking glass
which echoes my own heart
i wish while airing the morass
of life i bleed as art

that i had delicately crowned
the strength she holds within
and uttered kindly with the sound
of love that's always been

a whisper to my soul

beneath my veiled brown eyes i dreamed
a whisper to my soul
by my fair muse whose aura gleams
and lives to make me whole
she swore with her undying breath
as intimate as love
that here beyond my mortal death
my words will be thought of
then wrapped me warm in both her wings
while lulling me to tears
which gave me faith for everything
i've poured throughout the years
and oh, her heart, it pillowed me
until my essence slept
and soon i crumbled to debris
while beauty softly wept

shadows & rain

i stand beneath the night then weep
and yearn for her again
unending in my every thought
is how i bring back when

she neared as the eclipsing skies
began to pour and heave
they bore far more than sweet delight
than all of dreams could weave

as far as love endowed the kiss
which brought my heart to sigh
while swirling in the pheromones
of liquid sunshine skies

the sweet appetence of her lips
were made from heaven's light
i need the way she surges through
my weary soul tonight

i think more how i crave that love
as i recall her face
and grip my raven hair then weep
while reveries embrace

absorbing this can never be
again for i'm alone
and so i'll sit beneath the night
in fragile somber tone

Why Did The Sun Not Rise Today

Posted by Robert Anderson On Wednesday, June 10, 2009 0 comments

Why did the sun not rise today
The moon was here last night
I do not understand the way
The sun refuses flight

Where are the morning birds that sing
Where is my mind's intent
To mark down through my everything
The words that beauty sent

I grasp the reasons love can't shine
I know this moment's not
The mark of faith which can design
Just what today forgot

The things that I have grown used to
Have drifted far from me
I wish someone could tell me true
Just who I'm meant to be

It's much too quiet in this void
I feel my muse has fled
The way I wrote she once enjoyed
But now my music's dead

A single note of beauty would
Impress upon the rise
Of all that I had understood
When looking in her eyes

But now is really sometime when
I never knew a rhyme
As lovely as the thoughts within
My poetry sublime

Copy Cat

If in thought for every time
you had been believed
for everything you had made up
then tell me who might see

what it is you claim to know
and how you wrote that rhyme
that gave you every prop you said
you'd earn in all due time

it seems a little too well known
to me and I see how
you came up with the perfect scheme
to write your feelings down

it was originality
that mended both its wings
but just not from the point of view
of you who had began

to go insane with each attempt
by how you couldn't wake
until you read the verses of
a style you'd imitate

it worked in almost every tone
and every word embraced
I think you ought to bow your head
just lower it in shame

why have a poet as a babe
within the woods unfree
and think that they would never know
what still belongs and breathes

don't you dare deny it
no, it's not worth it to try
cause I know for a fact you tossed
your style to copy mine
