to the envious moon

Posted by Robert Anderson On Saturday, April 20, 2013 0 comments

for the gentle glow of the bloodlessness you seep
through the stainless window, and pine with ache,
he breathes in and instills frozen the moment
she became his own

he looks to her now, she is gentle and fair,
soundless and remembering, always remembering
like sweet dew trailing off the flower's petal
then falling to the damp earth to return to its roots

the cycle momentarily confesses the love
she held defiantly for him and nears a place
where the color that was theirs gently pours,
how it pours, pours, pours and drips that dreamy haven
for the overwhelming life of it all

though darkness surrounds this place tonight,
it is the light they create that resonates with depth
and secures flesh against flesh like soul to peering soul
which may consist of the eternity
they constantly die in

you captivate their thoughts and bring silently
your will to endow and even so I sense
your own pain and longing
for the beautiful fevered sun.

two fusing silhouettes

two fusing silhouettes against the light
there in a dream where autumn's moon aglows
of sweet perfection while my heart's mere sight
impresses and arises, heaven knows
the reason these two lover's dance and play
i watch in adoration through my soul
two fusing silhouettes for whom i pray
may never meet the day they are not whole

the midnight toll

oh, as you hang the semblance of my soul
where all the world will find their fortuned dreams
the piece of you that feeds the midnight toll
of grainy time still aches a brighter theme
i see it while you keep me held up high
despite the allegory life can claim
you know my silky touch can make you cry
i am the poverty you know by name
through autumn we will dance a faithful prayer
and know of nothing more than whimsy thought
i sense how deeply you feel you must bear
the dark vexatious reasons fate had wrought
yet if you found how much i still believe
that you're capricious for my sake, i fear
you'd let me go to find your own reprieve
then all my happiness will disappear
my calico desires would be in vain
and you would be the wanderlust i long
'til beauty mingles with our hearts again
the night would think to sing our final song
but covet me and i will give you breath
for every duskiness my grace will sell
and mend the fabrication of your death
with love's true needle to enchant you well
i may be just a pendulum to keep
forevermore amid the summer skies
but you're the truth of why nature will sleep
in such a faint encumbrance through my guise
so as you hang the semblance of my soul
where all the world will find their fortuned dreams
the piece of you that feeds the midnight toll
of grainy time will settle for this theme

you are the sun, i am the moon

you are the sun, i am the moon, we'll never touch
we'll never know the beauty of a kiss
i'll never know what it may be to miss you much
for i have never mingled with your bliss
i search for you, you are the light deep in my heart
you light my path when i am lost, oh love
you are the sun, i am the moon, we'll never part
though we may share the heavens high above
it's in my nature to be far from your embrace
yet i still hope you hear what i convey
i often do what it may take to know your grace
and so i'll find my way to you one day
you are the sun, i am the moon, though this is true
i'll always be in love with only you

My love, it's you I shall softly revive
When beauty escapes and withers and dies
And before your grave as the rain soaks the earth
Within that moment you may long to traverse
I'll reawaken your heart and for me
You'll remain as my life in solace, my queen
'Til you yearn and reveal to me your hunger
And kiss me as sweet as the heavens asunder
This gift of eternal life is for you
Beneath the pale, pale light of the moon
I weep as you overwhelm my still heart
Now rise my beloved and follow the dark

To Dance Beyond The Moon

along that empty road
and past the tree that stands
my dreams resemble life
settled by an empty hand

from where I am alone
afar with no one there
unto deep and darkened gloom
there's a feeling I cannot bear

how it aches to seldom hear
your voice of echoed love
the impression of light within
the rhythm of all you've done

and I dare to walk the distance
if it means to be with you
I swear we'll meet one day
to dance beyond the moon

Why Did The Sun Not Rise Today

Posted by Robert Anderson On Wednesday, June 10, 2009 0 comments

Why did the sun not rise today
The moon was here last night
I do not understand the way
The sun refuses flight

Where are the morning birds that sing
Where is my mind's intent
To mark down through my everything
The words that beauty sent

I grasp the reasons love can't shine
I know this moment's not
The mark of faith which can design
Just what today forgot

The things that I have grown used to
Have drifted far from me
I wish someone could tell me true
Just who I'm meant to be

It's much too quiet in this void
I feel my muse has fled
The way I wrote she once enjoyed
But now my music's dead

A single note of beauty would
Impress upon the rise
Of all that I had understood
When looking in her eyes

But now is really sometime when
I never knew a rhyme
As lovely as the thoughts within
My poetry sublime

In Whispered Tone

How frightful it is for you to say
In whispered tone my name in vain
I had not once single handedly
Taken for granted the things you need
And knowing not once as deep within
This tone you dare to shout in sin
How dreadful it is for you to tell
Of things you retrieve from the depths of hell
In whispered tone toward the moon
I've longed for someone who was like you
But not once thought within your grace
You'd turn away from my embrace
So on I'll live without your touch
And miss you always oh so much
How frightful it was for you to say
In whispered tone my name in vain

Beauty and Her Song

Behold! For such light shines deep within
Emotionally; the shades of their love so fair
Anchored to the blanket of stars that do cover
Unity within the moments they've shared
Time of a lifetime that had beautifully bloomed
Yesterday's love they unfurled one sweet winter

And by the envious height of the moon
No flame had held to the passion they rendered
Depths of his righteousness she consumed

Heated so lovely in all ecstasy

Even in the garden he laid out for her
Roses had grew by the painted sunbeams

So in song she would soothe the love she adored
Oh when it was their time of romance
Not even death could cease them to soar
Greatly they've taken their fate but for chance
